This is the layer your face rests on all night. The 40 micron eucalyptus silk is woven far tighter than ordinary cotton, so skin cells cannot settle into the weave and there is less for dust mites to feed on. It is smooth, quiet and free of chemical treatments, and it washes at 60°C, the temperature that kills dust mites.
Pillowcase or protector? The pillowcase is the top layer. The sealed pillow protector underneath is what traps the mites already living inside your pillow. Most customers use both, which is why the bundle above pairs them.

Wash weekly at 60°C with your normal detergent. 60 degrees is the temperature that kills dust mites, and the eucalyptus silk is made for it.
Line dry where you can to keep the silk soft. If you tumble dry, use a low heat.
Because the pillowcase is the layer you strip and wash each week, the sealed Pillow Protector underneath stays undisturbed and only needs washing every 1 to 3 months.

Not on their own, and we would rather tell you that up front. These are bedding, the top layer that touches your face. They are woven to a 40 micron barrier, far tighter than ordinary cotton, but the layer that actually seals dust mites in is a fully zipped pillow protector underneath. If you only buy one thing for your pillows, buy the protector first and add these on top.
The protector is a fully zipped encasement with a 5 micron barrier. It goes directly onto your pillow, seals it on all sides, and traps the mites and allergen already inside so they cannot reach you. These pillowcases go over the top. They are 40 micron eucalyptus silk, softer against your face, and they are what you wash weekly. The protector seals, the pillowcase covers. You want both.
They do two useful things. Your face is against this layer for eight hours a night, so it is worth that layer being smooth eucalyptus silk rather than ordinary cotton with a looser weave. And washing a pillowcase weekly at 60 degrees is far easier than stripping and washing a protector, so the protector underneath stays sealed and undisturbed for longer.
The order that makes the biggest difference is mattress protector first, encasing all six sides, then pillow and duvet protectors, then the bedding layer on top. Your mattress is by far the largest dust mite reservoir in the room, so sealing it is where most of the relief comes from. If you are replacing your bedding anyway, yes. we tried immunotherapy for my boy for over six months with literally zero improvement. sent him off to uni this semester and he was absolutely miserable in the dorms waking up stuffy every day. ordered this complete bedding set for him and had it shipped directly to his hall. he put the fitted sheet, duvet cover, and pillow cases on right away. the fabric feels like normal high quality material but creates a proper barrier against the dust. he says the meds didn't do much but this bedding actually lets him breathe and sleep. definately worth the price to know hes comfortable away from home
